One way to interact with the community at Guiding Light is serving in the kitchen. Volunteers working in the kitchen have the chance to interact with our patrons face to face and to work along side them. Volunteers arrive at 10am (Monday - Saturday) and 11am (Sunday) to prepare lunch and serve the men in the program. Chapel is from 12:00 - 12:30. For dinner, volunteers arrive at 5:10 p.m. and serve men in the program. Chapel is from 6:00 - 6:30 and the community is then served. Volunteers can expect to finish serving around 7:00 p.m.

Guiding Light Mission has a number of tasks and needs suitable for a variety of ages. We offer a safe environment in which volunteers can learn about and serve the community, and also have an enriching experience. Group volunteering is a great option for schools and churches, as well as for individuals looking to bring their friends. Please note: group members under eighteen will require a minor waiver as well as one chaperon for every six minors. Groups interested in volunteering can contact Katie Hop at 616.451.0236x14.
